Santa Monica was pretty much a 'must see'. It's stylish, friendly, upmarket, clean, feels really safe and has a really smart pedestrianised 3rd street starting on Santa Monica Blvd just north of the Mall. The pier is a largely wooden construction with the fun fair and a number of eateries. Very nice place - I'd definitely like to go back for a longer re-visit!
